the season premier of showtime’s hit show: weeds is on monday, june 8th at 10pm. et/pt

weeds

…i’m forgetting again…

why don’t we just legalize it ?????

i mean everyone smokes it!!!!!!

“cannabis remains by far the most commonly used drug in the world. an estimated 162 million people used cannabis in 2004, equivalent to some 4 per cent of the global population age 15-64. in relative terms, cannabis use is most prevalent in oceania, followed by north america and africa. while asia has the lowest prevalence expressed as part of the population, in absolute terms it is the region that is home to some 52 million cannabis users, more than a third of the estimated total. the next largest markets, in absolute terms, are africa and north america.” [1]

chances are, the people reading this blog, or more specifically, this blog posting, have probably smoked some pot. you know all the risks and blah blah blah. okay, for the rest of you, you haven’t smoked weed. great!! good for you. my real question is, why the fuck do you people think that because you have read statistics on how bad pot is for you, that you have now earned the right to dictate how others should view this drug. you haven’t smoked it, so what do you really know???

“in 2007, 47.4 percent of the 1,841,182 total arrests for drug abuse violations were for marijuana — a total of 872,720. ff those, 775,137 people were arrested for marijuana possession alone. by contrast in 2000 a total of 734,497 americans were arrested for marijuana offenses, of which 646,042 were for possession alone.” [2]

so what have we really just established

  • 162 million people used cannabis in 2004
  • users of cannabis between ages of 15 and 64 make up 4% of the global population
  • 47.4% of all drug abuse violations were marijuana offenders

is it just me…or does it seem like the world is turning into pot heads. yesterday my sub-teacher told me and my class that we could do whatever we wanted as long as we didn’t smoke anything because ‘it’s bad for the health’

on a similar note:

weeds, a popular showtime late-night soap opera, is frighteningly based on california’s marijuana obsession and the growing and selling that occurs in medocino county and elsewhere throughout the u.s. women, like the main character in weeds, actually have began growing and/or selling marijuana, under the shaky law of the county, for ‘medically ill’ i wonder…do you think that there is that many critically ill individuals in nor cal? regardless, this show proves to those of you which you may not believe that marijuana use is more prevalent than ever before.

weeds on showtime is returning in its 5th season starting

monday, june 8th at 10pm. et/pt
